2025 is almost here, and if there’s one thing I’m prioritizing this year, it’s being a better friend, partner, and just a better human being overall. We’re all about spreading positive energy, lifting each other up, and showing up for the people we love. But becoming a better version of yourself isn’t just about the grand gestures—it’s in the little things, the everyday actions that make a difference. So, if you’re looking to level up your friendships, your relationship, and the way you move through the world, here are five ways I’m committing to becoming a better version of myself in 2025.

1. Be Present—Like, Really Present
In a world where our attention is constantly being pulled in a million directions, I’m making a conscious effort to be more present with the people I love. Whether I’m hanging out with friends, spending time with my partner, or just chatting with someone at the grocery store, I’m putting away my phone and truly listening. It’s easy to get distracted, but being genuinely present is one of the simplest and most impactful ways to show someone you care. So, if we’re hanging out, you better believe I’m all in—no distractions, just good vibes and great conversation.

2. Celebrate the Little Wins
It’s easy to get caught up in the big milestones—promotion at work, buying a house, or getting engaged—but it’s the little wins that deserve just as much attention and help us avoid falling into the comparison trap if those big milestones aren't happening for us this year. . Did your friend finally make it to the gym after a week of tough mornings? Celebrate that! Did your partner finish a book they’ve been reading for months? Take a moment to appreciate the effort! I’m making a promise to myself this year to cheer on the small victories, because it’s these moments that build up to the big ones. Supporting someone in their everyday triumphs shows them that you’re in their corner, no matter how big or small the accomplishment.

3. Be Honest, But Always Kind
Honesty is key to any relationship, but it’s all about how you deliver it. I’m committed to being more transparent with my friends, partner, and even myself—but in a way that is rooted in love and respect. If something’s bothering me, I want to express it clearly without being harsh. If my friend is going through a rough time, I want to be there for them—whether it’s with tough love or just a shoulder to cry on. Honesty is important, but kindness is everything. 

4. Show Up, Even When It’s Hard
One of the most important ways to be a better friend, partner, and human being is simply showing up—even when it’s not convenient. Life can get busy, and it’s easy to let things slip through the cracks. I feel like it's easy to keep rescheduling plans because we know the other person won't take it personally, but that can easily become months (or years) that you've gone without seeing someone. I’m vowing to show up, even when it’s hard. Whether it’s attending a friend’s event I wasn’t initially planning to go to or doing something sweet for my husband even when work is crazy, consistency in showing up for the people you care about creates trust and deepens bonds. So, even on the days when I’m tired or distracted, I’m going to prioritize the people who matter most to me. They deserve that.

5. Practice Empathy—Not Just Sympathy
Empathy is the secret ingredient that transforms good relationships into great ones. It’s one thing to feel bad for someone going through a tough time, but it’s another thing to put yourself in their shoes and really feel with them. This year, I’m making it my goal to practice empathy more often. When my friends, partner, or even strangers face challenges, I want to understand their emotions and offer support in ways that truly align with what they need. It’s not always about offering solutions, but about letting them know that they’re seen, heard, and cared for. Because when you can step into someone else’s emotional world, you show them that they’re never alone.

These five little changes might sound simple, but I believe they’re the foundation for building better friendships, stronger relationships, and, ultimately, a more fulfilling life.
